A whole year of blogging

Last year, when I decided to start a blog, I figured I wouldn’t keep it going for long. Today, however, marks my one year blogging anniversary! Happy anniversary to me and many thanks to those of you who have provided encouragement. I appreciate each of you for taking time out of your busy schedule to read what I have written.

One of the things I like about using the WordPress platform for blogging is that they provide me with interesting statistics. For example, during the last year, my blog has been viewed over 19,000 times. (That sounds like a lot, but it really isn’t an impressive number.) Most of my readers are from the United States and Canada but I have had readers from a total of 39 different countries.

Strangely enough, the post that had the most views was the one about raspberry oranges. The second most popular post was about my circle of friendship. That one makes me happier because it has a lot of emotional value for me.

I’ve read a lot of articles about how to have a successful blog. Basically, it involves spending money for advertising and using all forms of social media. I’m not willing to spend that much time or money to promote anything! I also have no desire to become a sponsored blogger because I hate when I’m trying to read something and ads keep popping up. It may be a few steps beyond normal, but I consider my blog to be successful if I’m having fun writing it. So far, so good!
